In other news, my dad and I talked politics today. He wonders where he went wrong with me — bleeding heart left wing commie liberal fascist that I am (his words…I wonder where the fascist came from…), and told me that if “my guy” had been elected, he would have gone out to buy more guns to protect his family.

But at least we talked, and I think I got him to go read the Duelfer report, since he thinks that Saddam did have WMD capabilities, and that the UN sanctions weren’t working.

For anyone interested in talking about the situation with neo-cons, it is a very useful text. It pretty much lays out that there were no WMD’s, that there hadn’t been production capability for some time, that intellectual capability was massively eroded and still eroding, and that Saddam’s main concerns were with lifting the UN sanctions. That he did *want* WMD’s but that he knew there was no chance for them until the sanctions were lifted.

And as my dad would say (and as I will look forward to parrotting back to him when he brings up this desire as a refutation point) “Want in one hand, shit in the other”.
